Featuring Vari-Angle Prism IS for easier action shooting

A 4K UHD broadcast lens that offers advanced image stabilization in the form of Vari-Angle Prism IS, which enables stabilization over a wider range of vibration frequencies than the conventional optical-shift method. This, together with the lens’ compact, lightweight and portable design, enables seamless, stable 4K footage in a wider range of shooting situations, such as when the user is walking or on a moving vehicle, helicopter or bike. The use of Canon’s excellent optical technologies ensures that the image quality necessary for 4K production is also fulfilled.

  • Compatible with 2/3” sensor 4K cameras
  • Vari-Angle Prism Image Stabilizer (VAP)
  • Focal length 8.5 – 128mm
  • 15x zoom, 0.8m MOD
  • High-performance digital drive unit
  • Compact, mobile design; weighs approximately 2.03kg (KRSE-V S, main unit only)

Features

High Optical Performance That Meets The Needs Of 4K Production

The lens offers high optical performance that fulfils the requirements of 4K cameras with 2/3” sensors: Fluorite glass and UD glass in optimal layout minimize loss of sharpness and color fringing, ensuring corner-to-corner clarity. In-lens correction data that is suitable for BT.2020 color gamut ensures excellent color aberration correction, producing excellent image quality.

High Mobility; Highly-precise Drive Positioning

The lens achieves the same compact, lightweight body as HD equivalent lenses with body-only dimensions of approximately
???????170.2mm × 116.2mm × 239.5mm and a weight of 2.03kg. This reduces the strain of shooting for long hours on the shoulder and enables increased mobility. The ergonomic design of the grip fits comfortably in the hand, ensuring that zoom and focusing operations are a breeze. The high-performance digital drive unit incorporates a 16-bit absolute encoder for precise drive positioning.

Vari-Angle Prism Image Stabilizer

In Canon’s exclusive Vari-Angle Prism, high refractive index liquid is placed between two layers of glass in a bellows-shaped structure. During blur correction, this liquid changes angle and provides three-dimensional control of the optical axis. As this method enables a larger degree of correction compared to the conventional optical-shift stabilization method, excellent stabilization is possible over a wider range of vibration frequencies. This powerful feature supports shooting in 4K on a motorbike/in-vehicle, on a helicopter, or in other active scenes.
